Kiwi Business Delegation upbeat on Ministers' visit to India

The members of Kiwi-business delegation travelling along with Minister for Foreign Affairs Winston Peters and Minister for Trade, Export & Growth on a four day visit to India are brimming with excitement about the prospects of advancing bilateral trade.

Speaking with The Indian Weekender from New Delhi, Sameer Handa, Chairman of India New Zealand Business Council said, “The ministerial delegation to India has been very timely although long overdue.”

“The business delegation is also of very high calibre & from diverse industries including Aviation, Service sector, fintech, education, meat, horticulture & dairy,” Mr Handa said.

INZBC is the premier trade organization in New Zealand working for over 25 years to build trade relations between India and New Zealand.

Notably, the high-level business delegation travelling along with the two Ministers includes the likes of Bhav Dhillon – a successful business leader and a well-known champion of NZ-India relations, Sameer Handa – the Chairman of India New Zealand Business Council, Peter McBride – former Chairman and a Director of Zespri Group and current Director Fonterra, Jo Pennycuick – the founder-director of Redesign Group.

“The first couple of days in Delhi have been very successful with meetings with Niti Aayog & IndiGo. Looking forward to some tangible outcomes by the end of this trip,” Mr Handa said.

India is New Zealand’s 13th biggest trade partner with bilateral trade between NZ – India between the two countries increasing in the last few years and reaching to a new high of two way trade around $3 billion.

India is the world’s fifth-largest economy with a nominal GDP of $2.94 trillion, overtaking the United Kingdom and France in 2019. In terms of purchasing power parity, India’s global ranking is third, only behind the United States and China.
